Stop Toxic Dumping in Palmerton!

This blog is born out of the pressing need to stand in solidarity with the residents of Palmerton who have been impacted by the noise, noxious odors, and knowledge that trucks full of landfill are dumping toxic waste near Mauch Chunk Road along the bank of the Lehigh River. The trucks are allowed under Residual Waste Permit WMGR096 for Northface Industrial Complex / Phase III Environmental, LLC. Their toxic cargo comes from New York and New Jersey, where companies pay to unload the deadly cargo in Palmerton with no benefit for residents. Consider the history of injustice in Palmerton - first with the Zinc Company, then the wrong-headed remediation which poisoned the municipal wells, and now toxic landfill is being dumped on top of the aquifer. If you support the residents of Palmerton, please sign this petition, and show your commitment to demanding that the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA-DEP) Bureau of Waste Management, Northeast Regional Office:
1. Deny the renewal of the Residual Waste Permit WMGR096 granted to Northface Industrial Complex / Phase III Environmental, LLC.
2. Stop all incoming deliveries of Regulated fill (not accepted in New York or New Jersey).
3. Require incoming deliveries to be Clean fill.
4. Enforce the regulations for Residual Waste and as specified in Permit WMGR096.
