Let's celebrate! Save Carbon County is thrilled to announce The Direct Support Fund awarded Save Carbon County with a generous $5,000 in grant funding to purchase and deploy one Aeroqual Series 500 portable handheld monitor to comprehensively identify, analyze, and report on harmful emissions during air quality events at Panther Valley Elementary, Intermediate, and High Schools in Nesquehoning. The Direct Support Fund is made possible by the Heinz Endowments, The 11th Hour Project, Cloud Mountain Foundation, and The Plastic Solutions Fund and is a project of the Mountain Watershed Association. For more information or to apply, please visit www.mtwatershed.com

Panther Valley School District is already using the Save Carbon County-provided PurpleAir monitors and can utilize the Aeroqual monitor for detailed reporting on poor air quality days. The reporting enables the School District to develop policies addressing poor air quality days. In addition, municipal governments and Carbon County can use the reporting to establish appropriate guidelines for businesses and utilities.

This is a BIG DEAL for Carbon County air quality - thanks to our amazing President, Linda Christman, for securing the grant and making this happen!
