Gorgeous bar setting at Big Creek Vineyard and Winery!

Our August meeting at the Big Creek Vineyard and Winery in Kunkletown was a huge success! We reconnected with friends and fellow Savers, sampled the tasty wines, snacked on delicious sandwiches and desserts, and enjoyed the gorgeous evening. During the meeting, Linda Christman presented an update on Lake Hauto Air Quality for July 1st - August 8th and organized meeting participants who addressed 400 postcards to residents in Lake Hauto and Nesquehoning. The postcards alert residents about the recent approval for Panther Creek Power to burn tires and provide contact information for the PA-DEP and Save Carbon County if they smell noxious odors or see soot on their homes, cars, or decks. Linda also shared informative handouts about the devastating cost of Data Centers and the location of two that are proposed in Carbon County at Panther Creek Power and in Packer Township on Spring Mountain Road. We concluded the meeting by unveiling the stylish Save Carbon County baseball caps and t-shirts available online. We also celebrated our success in installing 15 Purple Air air quality monitors throughout Carbon County that report air quality 24/7 for free at purpleair.com. We look forward to seeing you at our next gathering!
