Stop the Data Center in Penn Forest!

We are battling Data Centers from one end of Carbon County to the other. The meeting regarding the proposed Data Center in Penn Forest is rescheduled to November 6th at 6PM at the Penn Forest Volunteer Fire Dept. on 1387 State Route 903. This is a meeting of the Zoning Hearing Board to consider providing approval for the siting of a Data Center at the intersection of Maury Road and Route 903. The Township of Penn Forest has declared a curative amendment process, giving the Township up to 6 months to develop appropriate zoning rules for Data Centers. During this six-month period, the law provides for a pause on all Data Center proposals. The property owner who has proposed the Data Center is attempting an “end-run” around the curative amendment process that allows Township Supervisors as elected representatives to study the issue and take appropriate action. By going directly to the Zoning Hearing Board, they are seeking immediate approval for their proposal regardless of the Township Supervisors.

The Zoning Hearing Board is very powerful under state law and can decide to approve the siting of the proposed Data Center. The Township Supervisors will be unable to overturn that decision. It is very important that the Fire Department is absolutely standing-room-only on November 6th. We need to let the Zoning Hearing Board know that approval of a Data Center is not wanted.

Data Centers are being pushed forward by our Pennsylvania Legislators and the Governor, but we can stop them if we raise our voices loud and clear:

No to Data Centers in Carbon County!
