Let's Put Carbon County Residents First!

This week has been a landmark in public participation against data center development in Carbon County. A popular entertainment venue, Penn's Peak, was the only facility large enough to host the crowd of residents who came out for the meeting on Tuesday. We are showing up and speaking up in larger numbers than ever before - united in a common cause to save our water, soil, air, wildlife - the rural beauty that makes our county so special!

Residents across northeastern PA are fed up with being walked on by greedy developers, and elected officials are starting to take notice. Recently, Senator Rosemary Brown, who serves Lackawanna, Monroe, and Wayne counties, questioned PA-DEP Secretary Jessica Shirley during the Senate Appropriations Committee budget hearing for the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) regarding fast-tracking permits for Data Centers. During the hearing, Senator Brown expressed concern regarding the lack of information about Data Centers and the risks they pose to her community. Underscoring her commitment to her constituents, Senator Brown recently announced "Residents First" legislation calling for a moratorium on Data Centers. Further south in Pennsylvania, Senator Katie Muth also introduced legislation advocating for a moratorium on Data Centers. It's refreshing to see elected officials take a bold stance in defending their residents against unbridled corporate interests, and we must demand the same from our elected officials. If you haven't already, please contact your Pennsylvania State Senator and your State Representative and share your concerns about reckless Data Center development. Don't know who your Senator or Representative is or how to contact them? Click here.

Want to make a difference? Join us tomorrow, March 2nd at 6pm at Penn's Peak.

We need everyone that agrees that the data center on 903 and Maury Road is a bad idea in a terrible location. We need to demonstrate to the Mele Bros. that we are not going away and any planned development of a data center will be strongly opposed! #Referendum
