David Fighting the Data Centers

Like David fighting Goliath, Save Carbon County is taking on the Data Centers. We are fortunate that groups like Save Penn Forest Township From Data Centers are well-organized and have experience defending their property from wrong-headed and destructive development. At the recent Penn Forest Township Zoning Hearing Board meeting (picture is below), it was standing-room-only! Although the meeting was continued to Thursday, January 29th at 6PM, the room was electrified with concerned residents and Save Carbon County members equipped with experience and expertise on why Data Centers are wrong for Carbon County. We need this same show of support on January 29th and must not let the weather stop us from making our voices heard!

Other communities need more support. In Nesquehoning, where we've filed a complaint against Panther Creek Power's permit to burn tires and tire-derived fuel, the parent company Bitfarms hastily scheduled public meetings tomorrow, Monday, November 17th at 3pm and on Tuesday, November 18th at 9am, 12pm, and 6pm. These meetings were scheduled after Save Carbon County scheduled our meeting on Monday, November 17th at 7pm. We need everyone who is concerned about Data Centers in Carbon County to show up and voice your concerns at one of these meetings. Panther Creek Power is permitted as a power plant NOT a Data Center! Let's show the same level of support as in Penn Forest! Save Carbon County representatives will be at each of the 4 sessions. Bitfarms claim they need the additional fuel provided by burning tires to power the 80 trailers of computer equipment that are now on-site at the Panther Creek Power plant!

In Banks, we are encouraging folks to sign the online petition to stop the Municipalities from rezoning areas of the township for industrial use, allowing for the establishment of data centers and warehouses. If you live in one of these communities or want to get involved, please contact the Save Carbon County hotline at 570-676-2644 and leave a message. We are stronger together.
