Data Center Update

Recently, Data Center developers have been meeting with local municipalities in Carbon County to smooth the way for construction. Some of the promises they've made are "no more property taxes" and the offer to purchase "200 acres of property around the data center for Open Space". Both promises are false, even IF the data center will pay for property taxes for all the residents of a municipality, the increase in electricity bills and damage to drinking water far outweigh the benefit. The purchase of 200+ acres of property around the data center for Open Space? Another empty promise, data centers are so noisy that developers are getting smart and making sure that there are no homes nearby. The problem? Wildlife and even plants are damaged by 24/7 exposure to +70dB noise.
To hear more about what Save Carbon County is doing to stop unregulated data centers from taking over Carbon County, please join us at our next meeting / picnic under the trees at the Christman Farm. We’ll be next to a restored one-room school and across from the Christman Trailhead of Beltzville State Park. Linda will have pulled pork sandwiches, a salad, barbecue beans, vegetarian hot dogs, and iced tea. Bring your preferred drink and a dessert or side dish to share. There will be plenty of good food and good company. [Note: We will cancel if real rain is scheduled, but not for sprinkles.] Please let Linda know that you will be coming by leaving a message at 570-676-2644.
