Act Now to Test Sewage Sludge!

As you know, Save Carbon County has been asking for testing of sewage sludge (like the stuff shown in the picture below) because we believe that if the Commonwealth identifies the toxins and forever chemicals that are in sewage sludge, farmers will not want to use it, and will no longer support its use. The good news is that Pennsylvania House Representatives Pugh, Pickett, Mihalek, Flick, Ryncavage, Rader, Watro, Rivera, Stehr, and Walsh introduced a bill to require testing of sewage sludge. The legislation is Pennsylvania House Bill 1116. Even better news - House Bill 1116 is currently under review by the House Environmental Committee. We hope that our local Pennsylvania House Representative supports this Act providing for duty of Department of Environmental Protection to conduct a study on PFAS chemicals in biosolids. We need to use every opportunity to gain support for this legislation.
