Sewage Sludge

Supported and raised awareness for PA House Bill 1116 – to test Sewage Sludge for PFAS/PFOS. We were thrilled when Representative Doyle Heffley signed on in support!

Data Centers

Participated in multiple public meetings sponsored by PPL and Bitfarms regarding increased infrastructure requirements to support massive energy demands from Bitcoin mining and Data Centers.

Air Quality

Installed 5 more Purple Air Quality monitors for a total of 15 throughout Carbon County. Received a Grant to purchase an Aeroqual Series 500 Handheld monitor and cartridges to measure the following toxins in our air. Readings from the Aeroqual Series 500 Handheld monitor were used to file 2 separate complaints with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

Environmental Preservation

Presented detailed information about the negative impact of removing more than 1600 trees from a mature Oak Forest to the Jim Thorpe Borough Council, who subsequently rejected the proposal. This outcome preserved valuable flood protection, riparian buffers, and open space for the residents' enjoyment.

Pollution Reduction

Our legal battle against the polluting Panther Creek Power Plant continued with the first hearing before the Commonwealth Court, followed by an amended complaint that included local residents as signatories.

We are dedicated to saving what we love about our county: the Lehigh River, our parks, our forests, our lakes, our farms, and the air we breathe, and we will continue to fight for clean air, clean water, and clean soil!

Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season from everyone at Save Carbon County
